Dr. Singh presents and wins first prize during Best of the Best Oral Abstracts session at SCAI 2014

Vikas Singh, M.D. one of our current first year fellows presented the study “Corevalve Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation Using The Novel Transcaval Approach: First in Man Experience” in the Best of the Best Oral Abstracts session on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at SCAI in Las Vegas, Nevada. Vikas described the procedure which was performed successfully by William O'Neill, M.D., Pedro Martinezclark, M.D., Antonio Dager, M.D., and colleagues in Cali, Columbia.  This is the first reported experience in humans using this new technique to use veins to gain access to the aorta to perform TAVR using the CoreValve system in patients with severe, symptomatic AS and no other treatment options.
